Louisiana Rural Life Museum - A Must See!
This museum is smack dab in the middle of Baton Rouge and you would be so surprised to see how much land is back there hidden in the middle of the city.
The land, as much of the items, and buildings were donated by people who owned plantations, sugar cane farms, etc. It is set up like a town from back in the day. AMAZING!
And for pickers like us....we wished we could put all of those treasures in our pockets. They were awesome.
The Entrance
The front of the General store and the cash register!
Back of Cash Register!
Thread Display cabinet! WHAT I WOULDN'T GIVE FOR THIS TREASURE! Ahhhhhhhhhh - LOVE!
Post Office Area! Amazing! I WANT that cabinet!
Another View of General Store!
Kitchen which was it's own building separate from the house.
A Traditional Bedroom.
Barn!
Church. Lovely!
Inside the Church.
Another inside view.
Looks like Little house on the Prairie!
Trent in front of one of the buildings
Me being naughty. This house was roped off but I just had to get inside for a pic! And this was not our best looking day as it was HOTTTTT and HUMID!!!
Jail!
This is a Coffin makers sample cabinet. There is a coffin inside! spooky!
Traditional 4 person outhouse. I guess these were for large families.
This is the School. Lots of History here!
Before you go outside, you go through and indoor museum and they have every king of carriage you can imagine.
And you can actually touch all of this stuff which makes it even more fun.
So if you ever get a chance to visit Baton Rouge, Please make time for the Rural Life Museum. It's owned by LSU and It's just amazingly rich in History and culture. You WON'T be disappointed.
Happy Pickin'
