A transformation of a closet Pick!

So this is a cute little table that I had for a long time.  It was actually in a closet in several pieces.  Part of the metal frame came unwelded and the stained finish was full of scratches and marks to say the least.

so instead of trashing it, I decided to give it to honeybear to see if he could work his magic on my "closet" pick.

And that he did!

He rewelded the part that was broken and then sanded the entire table with an electric sander. (sorry I don't have pics of that part)  Then he put a new stain all over.

And it came out like this. Awesome!

But for some reason the top wasn't as beautiful as the rest of the table.  It wouldn't take the stain as well. So we decided to stain the top black and then put a clear coat since the frame and the handle was black.

And this is what it looked like.  We loved the way this table turned out overall especially since I was ready to throw it in the trash.

So now we have it in our local booth for sale.
(Secretly I hope it doesn't sell so I can keep it!)

We loved how this transformation turned out. And it only costs us a little elbow grease and some stain!  So before you trash something, take a second to look at it in a different "light" and see if you can make it into something else, repourpose it, or just give it a makeover to make it more beautiful.  You just might surprise yourself.

  1. Your table and stand really turned out great. Love that it ended up having to paint the top black because it really looks good and tied in with the stand. PS - following you on Linky! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration with Sunday's Best!

  2. This piece came out beautiful. You should be proud. Thank you for following my blog. I have joined yours also. I love the thrifting and picking community. Although now I am mostly into smalls and textiles I remember times when I would upcycle many items just to make a home for my family. Many things have been passed on and sometimes I miss them, but they have all gone to loving homes or been sold to take care of myself. I look forward to watching you grow.

  4. that's awesome! Love the two different stains. Lately I have seen lots of two stained or painted items and really like the look. I just bought a side table that the base was painted white and the top black. Love it! I bet your piece will sell quickly. :)
